En:Spirits tax
For every liter of pure alcohol sold, €13.03 in spirits tax is charged in Germany. There are two different options in Winestro.Cloud for mapping the spirits tax: one with and one without explicit disclosure to the customer.
Spirits tax without disclosure to the customer
In the article tab, you will find a check mark “Obligatory spirits tax” in the VAT settings. If this box is checked, Winestro.Cloud will calculate the spirits tax to be paid by you for this item internally. It is important, as the spirits tax is charged per liter of pure alcohol, that a liter specification and a % vol alcohol specification is also stored for the respective article.
Customers can also be marked as exempt from spirits tax. Orders from these customers adopt this marking - which can be edited separately in the order - even for orders from customers who are not marked accordingly.
The list of the spirits tax to be paid can be found under Statistics - Turnover for each month. There is an extra line for this, for example -> “Spirits tax July 2019”. Every sale of items marked as “subject to spirits tax” and every own consumption of these items entered in the program is taken into account.
The control list shows each individual invoice item in connection with the sparkling wine tax - including those that have been entered as exempt from the sparkling wine tax.
Spirits tax with disclosure to the customer
If you increasingly work in the B2B area or never want to use a discount on the spirits tax received, the following method is recommended: Create an article “Spirits tax 0.75”, for example, for each container size of your article subject to spirits tax. Enter the appropriate price in the amount of the applicable spirits tax and check the box Discount block. Remember that the spirits tax is again subject to VAT, so you should enter the net amount.
Then go to the tabs for your item subject to spirits tax. In the System tab, you will find the option “Additional items for sale”. Enter the spirits tax there with the corresponding price list.
If you then add a brandy to an order, a second item for the brandy tax will be added to the order at the same time.
You can find the evaluation of your spirits tax via the sales of the article Spirits tax in the statistics. (Statistical lists - Tab: Article - Sales by article)
